Yahoo! Calendar Event Invitations Used for Email Spam
By Adrian • Nov 5th, 2008 • Category: Internet Marketing, Misc, spamLately I noticed spam coming in as Y! Cal event invitations. This results in the email bypassing the spam folder *and* getting a special icon making it prominent (the CSS class of the icon is icons invelopicon [sic]).
The subject doesn’t matter - you can probably get away with “Cheap Viagra Convention” as the subject. Not only that, but the email body is wrapped in a pretty (and legitimate, not just legitimate-looking) Yahoo! Calendar frame.
Here’s an example of a message body:
You’re invited to: $14,000,000 MILLION.BUSINESS PROPOSAL IF YOU ARE INTRESTED REPLY ME IMMEDIATELY.

Time: 9:15 am - 10:15 am (GMT +00:00)

I don’t care much for spam, but as somebody always on the look out for unique/creative ways to advertise/promote, I go through spam mail (on and offline) to see what the latest trends are.
Adrian is a thief and crook. Whatever he said above is a lie and should be discarded as invalid, errornous and outright DANGEROUS. It's a small part of an elaborate scheme he thought up on the plane heading to the annual Take Over The World Convention.
